In the example mentioned above the circuits are realized in proved and tes‐
ted manner. Both have to be in the "Enabling" status to activate the power
contactors.
The weak point of category 1 is its missing self-monitoring. If a circuit is faulty
and remains in the enabled status, the circuit continues to work. A further
error might cause a dangerous situation. Therefore you have to test the inde‐
pendent function of each individual circuit regularly (e. g. during each com‐
missioning).
If the 2-circuit enabling device is wired in the IndraControl VEH 30.2 accord‐
ing to category 1 and is completed by an automatic (not necessarily safety-
relevant) test, category 2 can be achieved.
