Replacement Compressor

Disconnect the unit from the power
source before beginning service
work. Incorrect use or connections
can cause electrical shock.
Wear safety goggles when working
with refrigerants. Refrigerants can
cause eye injury.
Use extreme caution when discon-
necting hoses. Pressurized refriger-
ant may be present in hoses. Point
hoses away from you and anyone
nearby.
Instructions
These instructions outline the steps to replace
the existing compressor. See Figure 4-1,
Plumbing Interconnection Diagram. Refer to
this schematic of the unit plumbing and me-
chanical system when performing all remov-
als and replacements of plumbing or other
mechanical parts and assemblies.
Removing the Compressor
1. Disconnect the unit from its power source.
2. Remove the front panel.
3. Depressurize the unit.

4. Disconnect the three (3) copper lines from
the compressor.
There may be pressure in the copper
line.
5. Remove two compressor front anchor
screws and slide the compressor away from
the rear retainer.
6. Disconnect the COMP connector from the
pump, fan, and compressor harness.
7. Remove the compressor from the unit.
To prevent personal injury, use caution
when removing the compressor. Capaci-
tor wires may still be energized.
Installing the Replacement Compressor
Refer to Figure 4-1 and 4-2 during this instal-
lation.
1. Place replacement compressor with rubber
mounts attached on to the plate and secure
in place with existing bolts and washers.
2. Place the compressor assembly into the
unit. Slide the compressor into place and
secure with two front screws.
3. Connect the compressor to the wire har-
ness.
4. Refer to the illustration and install the three
(3) copper pipes connecting the compressor
to the unit. Replace the o-rings where used.
5. Connect the unit to the power source, per-
form a function test, and check for leaks.
6. Replace the shrouding.
