2.1.1
Water Path - Coffee
Refer to Figure 030-1.
If Coffee or Espresso is selected, the coffee/hot-water pump (Item 10) takes in
water via the flow meter (Item 8) from the water tank (Item 4) and pumps it
through the coffee/hot-water flow-through heater (Item 12). The ceramic valve
(Item 1) closes the water path to the decompression vessel (5), and the hot water
flows to the brew unit (Item 2). From here it is forced with a pressure of
approximately 218 pounds per square inch (15 bar) from above through the
capsule. The resulting coffee flows via the spout under the brew unit into the cup.
2.1.2
Water Path - Hot Water
Refer to Figure 030-1.
If Hot water is selected, the ceramic valve (Item 1) opens the water path to
the steam valve (Item 3). The coffee/hot-water pump (Item 10) takes in water
via the flow meter (Item 8) from the water tank (Item 4) and pumps it through
the coffee/hot-water heater (Item 12). The hot water exits via the spout under
the steam valve (Item 3) and into the cup.
