  • Page 2 Installing the Wireless-G Notebook Adapter Software Insert the Setup CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The Setup Wizard should run automati- cally, and the Welcome screen should appear. If it does not, click Start and choose Run. In the field that appears, enter D:\setup.exe (if “D”...
  • Page 3 Select your type of security: 64-bit WEP , 128-bit WEP , or WPA-Personal. All devices in a network must use the same type. The Passphrase is used to gen- erate one or more WEP keys. It is case-sensitive and should not be longer than 16 alpha- numeric characters.
  • Page 4 The Setup Wizard will ask you to review your settings before it starts to install files. Click Next if you are satisfied with your set- tings, or click Back to change any settings. With the Adapter’s label fac- ing up, as shown in Figure F, slide it completely into the CardBus slot.
  • Page 5 Disabling Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration Windows XP has a built-in configura- tion tool. To configure the Adapter using the Wireless Network Monitor, you need to disable Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration. Follow the instructions in Steps A-C. The Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration icon will appear in your computer’s system tray.
