BEFORE STARTING (Continued)
D. Wipe dipstick clean, insert it into oil rill hole and tighten
securely.
E. Remove oil fill plug and check oil level. If level is not up to
"FULL" mark on dipstick, add recommended oil, until it is.
POUR SLOWLY.
Wipe dipstickclean each time oil level is checked.
DO NOT FILL ABOVE "FULL" MARK ON DIPSTICK.
F. Replace oil fill plug and tighten_je_urely.
See "MAINTENANCE" section for any future oil level and oil
change instructions(see Page 2).

FILL FUEL TANK
with gasoline as specified in the preceding"OIL & FUEL
RECOMMENDATIONS" item 2.
NEVER MIX OIL WITH GASOLINE
Never use "stale" gasolineleft over from last season or storedfor
long periods.

SYSTEM MUST BE LEAKPROOF AND MEET ALL APPLICA-
BLE CODES AND REGULATIONS.

REWIND STARTER:
A.
Move choke lever to FULL CHOKE POSITION.
NOTE:
IF RESTARTING A WARM ENGINE AFTER A
SHORT SHUTDOWN, MOVE CHOKE LEVER TO "NO
CHOKE POSITION."
B. Moveequipment contrelto START (sea equipmentmanufac-
turer's instructions).
C. Gresp starter handle (see Figure2) and pullrepe out,slowly,
untilit pullsslightlyharder. Let rope rewindslowly. Then pull
ropewith a rapid full arm stroke. Let rope rewindSLOWLY.
Do not let starter handle snap back against starter.
D. Repeat instructionC until engine fires. When engine starts,
move choke lever to 1/2 CHOKE until engine runs smoothly
and then to NO CHOKE POSITION.
NOTE:
If engine fires, but does not continueto run, move
choke lever to NO CHOKE POSITION and repeat instruction
C until eng!nestarts.
If angine again fires, butdoes notcontinueto run,move choke
lever to FULL CHOKE POSITION and repeat instructions C
and D until engine starts.

B. Be sure spark plug wire isattached to sparkplug (see Figure

Crank engine until it fires. When it starts, release starter
button or ignition switch key and move choke lever to 1/2
CHOKE until engine runssmoothlyand then to NO CHOKE
POSITION.
If engine falters, move choke lever to 1/2 CHOKE untilengine
runs smoothlyhand then to NO CHOKE POSITION.
NOTE: If engine fires, but does not continueto run, move
choke lever to NO CHOKE POSITION and repeat instruction
C and D until engine starts.
STOPPING

Move equipmentcontrol or any ignitionstop switch on engine
STOP or OFF (see equipment manufacturer's instructions).

AFTER ENGINE IS STOPPED:

DISCONNECT SPARK PLUG WIRE FROM SPARK PLUG I
AND KEEP IT AWAY FROM SPARK PLUG.

"OFF" POSITION AND REMOVE KEY FROM SWITCH. I
THIS WILL REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF UNAUTHO- I
