IMPORTANT NOTES
The KFS-30C is only compatible with the KFS-30 Cordless Driver. The battery charger is compatible
with USA and European power sources. It can accomodate input voltages from 100 VAC to 240 VAC.
For the European market, the battery charger comes with a VDE style plug cord (see Figure 3). For
the United Kingdom market, the battery charger comes with a Type G style plug cord (see Figure 4).

Red - Charger is on.
Yellow - Battery charge has reached 80% capacity or greater.
Green - Battery is fully charged.
BATTERY CHARGER SETUP AND OPERATION
1. The Battery Charger should be placed on a flat surface near the workstation.
2. Plug the female end of the power cord to the back of the charger and plug the male end into a
100 VAC (or 240 VAC) outlet. The battery charger will beep, and the Red LED will turn on.
3. Insert the battery into the charger cavity and snap the battery in place. Once the battery begins to
charge, the Red LED will begin to blink.
4. The Yellow LED will illuminate when the battery has reached greater than 80% charge.
5. The Green LED will turn on when the Lithium-Ion battery is fully charged. At the same time, the
battery charger will beep for a few seconds. Note: It takes between 45 minutes to an hour to fully
charge the battery.
6. A Red and Green blinking LED indicates a problem occurred during charging and the battery may
need replacing. For additional assistance, please contact KATO.

MAINTENANCE
The KFS-30, KFS-30B & KFS-30C require no maintenance.

DRIVER FEATURES
The KFS-30 Cordless Driver is powered by a High Performance Lithium-Ion battery. The KFS-30 driver
has the same auto reverse feature as the previous KATO electric drivers. The driver utilizes only one
torque spring and a 1/4" quick disconnect hex shaft, thus, reducing set up time and size changes. The
brushless motor is powerful enough to install inserts up to 1/4" and M6, but sensitive enough to install
small inserts, such as 2-56 and M2.5. The driver requires less maintenance than carbon brush drivers,
and can be used with the following tools:
• Hex Electric Tools: thread sizes 2-56 through 1/4", M2.5 through M6.
• Prewinder Electric Tools: thread sizes 2-56 through 1/4", M2.5 through M6.
The KFS-30 driver also includes a low and a high-speed setting (see
instructions on page 2) and auto speed ramping during the forward
cycle. Speed ramping helps facilitate installation and prolongs the life
of the tools, especially with smaller sizes.
In the event the driver is accidentally left running, the built-in timer
will turn the driver off after one minute of continuous rotation without
any load.
