Pleaseensureyoustoretheseinstructionsinasafeplaceforfuturereference. ShouldyouhaveanyconcernsregardingyourKirbyAir™Compactunit,pleasecontactyourinstallerorKirbyHVAC&R. 1.4. Electronic Ignition TheKirbyAir™Compactdoesnothaveastandingpilot.Theunitisequippedwithanenergysavingelectronicignition devicewhichautomaticallylightstheburnerondemandwhenthethermostatcallsforheat. NOTE: Donotmanuallylighttheburnerswithamatchofothersourceofflame. 1.5. Operating Instructions Beforeproceeding,ensurethatthegaslinehasbeenpurgedattheunitpriortoturningthepoweron. 1. Turnthegasvalvetothe‘ON’position. 2. Turnthethermostattothe‘OFF’position. 3. Turnthepower‘ON’attheunit. 4. Turnthethermostattothe‘ON’positionandsetthetemperaturetothedesiredsetting. 5. After30-seconds,theunitwillignite. 6. Theroomairsupplyfanwilloperate30-secondsaftertheignitionhasbeenestablished. Shouldtheunitfailtooperate,proceedtosteps7-8. 7. Turnthethermostattothe‘OFF’positionfor5-seconds. 8. Turnthethermostattothe‘ON’position. Shouldtheunitcontinuetofailtooperate,contactyourinstallerorKirbyHVAC&RPtyLtd. NOTE: TheKirbyAir™Compactcommunicateswiththethermostatthroughthelowvoltage(24volt)connections.  Theinstallerisobligatedtoeducatetheuseronhowtooperatethethermostatwiththenormalsequenceoftheunit operation.

    KIRBYAIR COMPACT  H igh-EfficiencyGasFurnace 1.6. Sequence of Operation 1. Whenthethermostatisturned‘ON’,theunitcallsforheat. 2. Theunitentersaprepurgeperiodof30-secondswiththecombustionairbloweron. 3. Thedirectsparkignitorwillbeenergisedandignitethegasatoneendoftheburner. 4. Theburnerwillcross-lightandtheflamesensorwilldetectthepresenceoftheflameattheopposingendofthe burner.Thedirectsparkignitorwillbede-energisedaftertheflameisrecognised. 5. Thecombustionairblowerwillstartapproximately30-secondsaftertheflameisestablished. 6. Theunitwillremaininoperationuntilthepresettemperatureonthethermostatisreached. 7. Oncethethermostathasbeensatisfied,thegasvalvewillclose,andthecombustionairblowerwillturnoffafter approximately90-secondstocooltheheatexchanger. 8. Iftheflamesensordoesnotdetectthepresenceoftheburnerflame,thegasvalvewillclose. 1.7. Diagnostic Conditions WARNING: DIAGNOSTIC CONDITIONS MUST BE PERFORMED BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL. WARNING: DIAGNOSTIC CONDITIONS MUST BE PERFORMED BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL Innormaloperation,agreenlightwillflashcontinuouslyonthecontrolboard.Iftheunitfailstolight,removethe accesspanelandobservethegreenindicatorlighttodiagnosethefault.

Turnoffthegasshutoffcock.Allunitsmusthaveagascockinstalledupstream,beforethegasvalveexternal totheunit. 3. Turnoffelectricalpowersupplytotheunit,ensuringthecombustionairblowerhasturnedoffpriortodoingso. 1.9. Power Failure Shouldthepowerfailureoccurwhiletheunitisinoperation,thegascontrolwillautomaticallyswitchoffthemain burners.Noheatingwillbeavailableuntilpowerisrestored.Onrestorationofpower,theunitwillautomatically restartshouldthethermostatcallforheat. NOTE: Foryoursafety,inextendedperiodsofpoweroutage,ensurethethermostatisturnedtothe‘OFF’position. 1.10. Thermostat Operation NOTICE: A THERMOSTAT IS NOT INCLUDED AND MUST BE ORDERED SEPARATELY. Installthethermostataccordingtotheinstructionsfurnishedwithit.Selectalocationonaninsidewallandnot subjecttodrafts,directsunshineorotherheatsources. OncetheKirbyAir™Compacthasbeeninitiallystarted,theunitmaybecontrolledfromthethermostattosetthelevel ofheatortoshutdownasrequired. • Foradigitalthermostat,setthetemperaturedesiredtocallforheat. •...

Maintenance TheKirbyAir™Compacthasbeendesignedforlowmaintenanceforthelifeoftheunit.Untrainedpersonnelcan performbasicmaintenancefunctions,suchascleaningandreplacingreturnairfilters,iffitted.Filtersshouldbe removed for cleaning at regular intervals, ideally each month during heating season.  A blocked filter will restrict airflowandpossiblyoverheattheheatexchangerandmotorwindings,subsequentlyaffectingtheperformanceand lifespanoftheunit. NOTE: Theuseoffiltersonthesupplyairregisterswillrestrictthesupplyairductingandoverheattheheatexchanger, leadingtoareducedlifespanoftheunitandsubsequentlyvoidingthemanufacturerswarranty.However,regularly maintainedfiltersmaybeinstalledonthereturnairgrill. 1.13. Service WARNING: SERVICE INSPECTIONS MUST BE PERFORMED BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL.
