Welcome to the April 2002 edition of
Interoperability:
Miercom Labs:
Quintum demonstrated its Tenor MultiPath Switch capabilities with six other
vendors' products in the Miercom interoperability Testing Labs in January, 2002. Tenor successfully
demonstrated dynamic fax detection with various codecs. Quintum was the ONLY vendor that
supported H.323 to successfully demonstrate tunneling based on H.245. For more information, go

FastComm™:
Interoperability testing was completed between Quintum's Digital Tenor VoIP MultiPath Switch
products and FastComm's SignalPath 230 Signaling Gateway protocol converters in FastComm's facility in
Dulles, VA. The results confirmed the ability of the Tenor to interface with the SP230 to provide signaling protocol
conversions for ANSI SS7 to T1 NI2, and ITU C7 to ETSI E1 PRI signaling variants. This enables service
providers to provide next generation VoIP services over legacy SS7 networks at the edge or on customer
premises. Read more at:

Least Cost Routing
The Tenor CMS can provide least cost routing of calls to multiple PSTN or IP carrier
networks when used in conjunction with a RADIUS based billing server. The most economical call route is
determined based on the dialed number and calling rates stored in a Rate Table in the billing server. Suitable
billing server software packages are available from Quintum partners.
TDM Switching
The Tenor CMS now supports both IP packet and TDM circuit switching. Using Quintum's
unique MultiPath architecture the CMS can switch calls between any of its ports from IP to PSTN, PSTN to IP, or
PSTN to PSTN. The CMS combines both a powerful TDM circuit switch and H.323 VoIP gateway into one,
compact, cost effective, telephony solution for service providers.
