Gardiner Pole Systems User Guide
This range of poles is fully telescopic with lateral clamps and positive end stops in each section. All poles
feature an insulated handle section for maximum safety.
Upon receiving the pole you will need to fit your brush to the screw-on gooseneck. To fit the brush, screw
the brush on until it is tight and in the correct position, then connect the pole hose to the brush's water
feed connector.
Before first use, it is advisable to check the adjustment on all of the clamps. The clamp levers should be
easy to open and close and yet still grip the section firmly. Beware of over-tightening the adjustment bolt
as this can cause the lever to exert excessive pressure on the pivot bolt - this can strip the plastic threads
and will accelerate wear on the sections. The clamps should only be tightened enough to hold the section
- due to the design, minimum tightening is needed to achieve this.
During the use of the pole, it is advisable to keep the pole as clean as possible. This will prevent
excessive wear of both the pole section surfaces and the clamp mechanism. This is the most important
thing you can do for your pole. The following guidelines will help achieve this:
After use, wipe the pole hose off with a hand cloth as you coil it back up to pack away. The majority of grit
and dirt that ends up inside the pole comes from the pole hose. We recommend that the pole be hosed
down once a week or after working in particularly gritty/sandy environments. The best way to do this is to
open all the clamps up and direct a hose up the inside of the pole from the base for a minute or so.
Correctly cleaned, there should be no need to spray or lubricate the pole sections at all. However, should
a problem develop where a lubricant is deemed necessary, use a PTFE dry lubricant. NEVER use an oil-
base lubricant such as WD-40.
These poles feature a positive stop. This prevents over extension of the pole whilst working - particularly
useful when working at height. If for any reason during the pole's life these positive stops should wear
away or become detached, please replace immediately as working without a positive end stop increases
the risk of clamp failure and section damage. If at any time you do need to remove any sections,
disconnect the hose, open a clamp and remove lever arm set, lever apart the clamp jaws slightly and
slide out the section.
Always work with an end cap in place as not doing so will reduce the life of the pole due to greater
ingress of dirt and the chance of splinter to the base section. If you wear out the end cap, replace as soon
as possible to prevent such damage. We would always recommend wearing gloves when working with
pure carbon (SL-X) poles to prevent any black dust produced during use.
These poles are Design Patent Protected under US, UK and European Laws

Trip Hazards (trailing hoses): Due to the nature of waterfed poles, there is constantly a hose running across the jobsite. It is important to mark these areas with signage to let others in the area know about the presence of trailing hoses.
