INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE, AND MODE OF USE FOR ACID LEAD BATTERIES (
1. Always install the batteries in well-ventilated environments.
2. Install the batteries in environments with adequate temperature according to the batteries features (see the
battery technical file)
WARNING: temperatures below 25°C make the capacity (autonomy) diminish, while
temperatures above 25/30°C make the battery life diminish, consequently compromising
the warranty.
3. Connect in series only batteries of the same model (code), NEVER mixing new batteries with used ones. PAY
ATTENTION NOT TO ACCIDENTALLY CONNECT TWO POLES OF THE SAME BATTERY.
4. When clamps are used for poles of battery type AP (conic), pay special attention to properly enlarge the
above mentioned clamps before inserting them on the poles. ABSOLUTELY AVOID using a hammer for their
application.
5. Connect in series batteries using section cables adequate to the charge/discharge current and to the distance
between the battery and the load. Eventually contact U.B.S. UNION BATTERY SERVICE.
6. In case of connection in series, periodically alternate (once or twice a year, according to the use) the position
of all batteries (not to do for traction cells ZENITH CELLS).
7. Always avoid the parallel connection. Eventually contact U.B.S. UNION BATTERY SERVICE.
8. Carefully tight the poles screws, according to what follows:
-
M5 terminal: 5,9/6,1 Nm
-
M6 terminal: 11,9/12,1 Nm
-
M8 terminal: 22,5/23,2 Nm
-
M10 terminal: 24,5/27,0 Nm
Eventual pole overheat due to an un-proper tighten is not cover by warrantee.
9. IMMEDIATELY recharge after the discharge.
10. Use battery chargers with adequate charge profile (see the technical files of batteries).
11. In case of long periods of non-use, periodically recharge the batteries. High temperatures of storage require
more frequent refreshing charges (ask U.B.S. for correct modes of refreshing charges).

12. Especially for batteries STARTER MOTORCYCLE, it is necessary to connect them to a charger, equipped with
holding charge, if the use of batteries themselves is seasonal (generally in winter). Otherwise no warranty
can be applied.
13. In STAND-BY application the use of cycles of charge with pulsating maintenance is recommended.
14. Correctly size the batteries according to the discharge current (see the batteries technical file): wrong sizing
make the warranty immediately expire.
15. Use the batteries ONLY for those applications compatible with their manufacturing features. See the table
below. Non compatible uses make the warranty immediately expire. The non exhaustive table below helps
the understanding of correct application of different families of batteries:
