• PROTECT THE BATTERY AGAINST
HEAT, ALSO AGAINST CONTINUOUS
SUN IRRADIATION AND FIRE. There is
danger of explosion.
• CHARGE THE BATTERY PACK IN A
TEMPERATURE RANGE 5°C(41°F)
TO 40°C(104°F)
1. Use a specified battery charger.
• Do not use an unspecified charger to
charge the battery pack.
Charging is not possible with an un-
specified charger and using such a
charger may damage the battery pack,
potentially leading to a fire or abnormal
heating of the battery pack.
2. Battery charging precautions
• The power supply used for this charger
must have the indicated rating. Do not
use transformers such as a booster, DC
power supply or engine generator for
this charger. Using such power supplies
can damage the charger or cause it to
catch fire due to abnormal heat.
• Be sure to charge the battery pack in a well
ventilated location. Do not cover the battery
pack or charger with a cloth or similar object
while it is charging. Doing so may cause the
battery pack or charger to burst or catch fire.
• When the charger is not being used, dis-
connect the power plug from the outlet. Oth-
erwise, an electric shock or fire may result.
• Do not allow foreign substances to enter
the charger's ventilating hole or battery
pack installation port. Otherwise, an elec-
tric shock or equipment failure may result.
3. Do not short-circuit the battery pack
terminals
• Short-circuiting the battery - objects such
as nails, or exposing it to rain or water can
potentially lead it to start fuming, catch fire
or cause the battery pack to burst.
4. Prevent electric shocks
• Do not touch the charger's power plug
with wet hands. Doing so may result in
an electric shock.

5. Pay attention to the ambient environ-
ment of the work site
• This charger is for indoor use. Do not use
the charger or the battery pack in the rain
or in a damp or wet location. Doing so
may result in an electric shock or cause
the devices to begin emitting fumes.
• Your work site must be sufficiently lit.
• Do not use the charger or battery pack
in a location where flammable liquids or
gases are used or stored. Doing so may
result in an explosion or fire.
6. Do not incinerate the battery pack
• It can explode in a fire and /or leak a tox-
ic substance.
7. Do not charge in a location where lac-
quer, paint, benzene, thinner, flammable
gases or adhesives are stored or used
• Otherwise, an explosion or fire may result.
8. Do not:
• Charge the battery pack on flammable
materials such as a cardboard box,
cushions, vinyl, etc.
• Place the battery within 5 cm from walls
when charging.
• Clog the charger's ventilation hole (ven-
tilation window), if provided, during
charging. Insert metals or flammable
objects into the ventilation hole.
• Charge the battery pack in a location
containing lint or other similar objects.
9. Take the following actions if battery
pack electrolyte leaks. Do not touch it
with your bare hands
• You may lose your eyesight if electrolyte
splashes into your eyes. Do not rub your
eyes. Rinse your eyes with running water
and seek medical attention immediately.
• Electrolyte on your body or clothing can
cause inflammation of the skin and oth-
er injuries. Rinse it off with a sufficient
quantity of water and then seek medical
attention immediately.
• Stop using a battery pack if a leakage
occurs and keep it away from fire. Con-
sult your dealer immediately.
10. Do not use a battery pack when its
service life is finished.
• This will cause functional trouble in the
tool's main body. Also charging a battery
pack that is out of service life will lead to
functional trouble in the battery charger.
11. Never use a charger or battery pack if
an abnormality is detected on it
• Stop using a charger or battery pack immedi-
ately if an abnormality is detected on it. If an
abnormality is detected, return it to your deal-

er for inspection or repair. Using the charger
or battery pack as is can cause fumes to be
emitted, the battery pack to burst, or fire.
12. A charging terminal is provided in the
battery pack entry point on the charg-
er. Prevent foreign substances such as
metal objects and water from entering
the terminal.
13. Do not use the charger for any purpose
other than charging
14. Keep the pack cap on the battery pack
whenever it is not being used
15. Always keep your work site clean.
16. Do not allow children to enter the work site.
• Do not allow anyone other than authorized
workers to touch the charger or its power cord.
• Do not allow anyone to enter the work
site except authorized workers.
Not observing the above rule may result
in unauthorized workers sustaining per-
sonal injuries.
17. Store the charger and battery pack
properly when they are not being used.
• Store them in a dry, safe and lockable
location that is not able to be reached by
children.
• Do not store the charger and battery
pack in a location where the surround-
ing temperature can reach 40°C (112°F)
or above (in a metal box or car in the
summertime, for instance).
Doing so will cause the battery pack to
deteriorate, potentially resulting in
fumes being emitting or fire.
18. Carefully maintain the charger.
• Check the charger's power cord for any
faults on a regular basis. If it is dam-
aged, contact your dealer for repairs.
• Check the extension cord, if used, on a
regular basis and if any faults are dis-
covered, replace it with a new one.
19. Do not handle the charger's power
cord roughly.
• Do not hold or carry the charger by its
power cord or pull the cord to discon-
nect the charger from the outlet.
• Do not expose the power cord to high
temperatures, oil or sharp corners.
• Select a location to use for charging so
that the power cord will be protected
from being walked on, dragged or dam-
aged by excessive force.
• Not observing the above rules may re-
sult in an electric shock or a fire due to
short circuiting.
20. Check parts for damage.
