HUB STYLE SERIES
Assembly, Take Down and Care/Use Instructions
FOR THE FOLLOWING MODELS:
• Frontier (6000) • Outpost (6003) • Headquarters (6006)
SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS:
Practice opening the shelter before out on the ice.
1. Unzip backpack carrying bag completely and remove the shelter.
2. Remove Velcro straps from around the shelter.
CAUTION: The shelter arms should fold up and fold down without
tension. If the arms do not fold up or down freely, do not force
them. This will cause damage to the Hub. Re-align the Hub arms
and try again.
3. Lay the shelter flat on the ground, making sure there is no material
that is twisted or overlapping the ends of any poles. Open the
shelter to the position shown in PHOTO #1 by pulling down on one
or two of the shelter legs.
CAUTION: If you are attempting to open the shelter in windy
conditions, lightly step on the storm flap, while holding the corner
of the shelter, to help hold the shelter in place. Anchor at least one
corner of the shelter. If the hubs and wall rods are not properly
aligned, the shelter will not open completely. Adjust the hub and
wall rods so that they are not twisted off center.
4. Grasp the webbing loop that is located in the center of the roof and
pull outward and upward until the roof section opens. For the
Headquarters, do the same for the second roof section. Both roof
sections should now be open as shown in PHOTO #2.
5. Grasp the webbing loop that is located in the center of one wall
and pull outward so that wall pops open as shown in PHOTO #3. If
you have not already used one anchor to help keep the shelter into
place, be sure to stand on the storm flap when popping open the
wall.
6. Repeat step 5 for each side of the shelter. Once each side is
opened, the shelter should look as shown in PHOTO #4. The
Frontier and Outpost shelters have (4) wall sections, the Head-
quarters has (6) wall sections.
7. Before putting in all anchors, be sure the storm flaps are pulled from
under the shelter. Screw the anchors into the ice through the
grommets at each corner of the shelter. On the Headquarters, there
are additional grommets in the middle of each side wall as well as
additional ice anchors. Be sure to screw the anchors all the way
into the ice.
8. Screw the remaining anchors into the ice 2 to 3 feet from the
shelter, into the wind. Secure one of the tie-down ropes to the
eyelet on the side of the shelter facing into the wind. Secure the
opposite end of the rope to the anchor facing into the wind. Adjust
the tension slide until the rope is taut. Repeat with the second
tie down rope. For the Headquarters, use the additional tie-down
ropes to secure the shelter.
9. To open the Max Vent System on the outside of the shelter, pull the
flap outward and attach the Velcro tab under the vent.
10. To open the Max Vent System on the inside of the shelter,
pull the Velcro flap downward.
TAKE-DOWN INSTRUCTIONS:
Practice taking down the shelter before attempting on the ice.
1. Disconnect all tie-down ropes and remove all but one of the ice
anchors before taking down the shelter.
2. Hold one corner of the roof up with one hand and push the center
of the roof down and inward with the other hand to collapse the
roof.
3. While holding the corner of the shelter, push the eyelet at the center
of the wall inward to collapse the wall. Repeat for each side of the
shelter.
4. Remove the remaining ice anchor before folding the shelter up.
5. Align the hub and wall poles so that they are not twisted.
6. Starting at one corner, lift the poles toward the center of the shelter.
Repeat at each corner as you walk around the shelter until all poles
are brought up to the center as shown in PHOTO #5.
7. Attach the Velcro straps around the shelter before placing in the
backpack carrying bag. Be sure to close the zipper on the bag.
