  • Page 20 To avoid short-circuiting the speakers Short-circuiting of the speakers may damage the system. To prevent this, be sure to follow these precautions when connecting the speakers. Make sure the bare wire of each speaker cord does not touch another speaker terminal or the bare wire of another speaker cord. Examples of bad conditions of the speaker cord After connecting all the components, speakers, and AC power cord, output a test tone to check that all the speakers are connected correctly.

    Speaker Setup For the best possible surround sound, all the speakers other than the subwoofer should be the same distance from the listening position (A). However, if necessary, this system allows you to place the center speaker up to 1.6 meters (5 feet) closer (B) and the rear speakers up to 4.6 meters (15 feet) closer (C) to the listening position.

    To turn off the system Press 1 on the remote. The system enters standby mode and the power indicator lights up in red. To turn off the system completely, press POWER on the system. While playing a disc, do not turn off the system by pressing POWER.

    Resuming Playback from the Point Where You Stopped the Disc When you stop the disc, the system remembers the point where you pressed x and “RESUME” appears on the front panel display. As long as you do not open the disc tray, Resume Play will work even if the system enters standby mode by pressing 1.

    Searching for a Title/ Chapter/Track/Index/ Scene You can search a DVD disc by title or chapter, and you can search a VIDEO CD or CD by track, index, or scene. As titles and tracks are assigned unique numbers on the disc, you can select the desired one by entering its number.

    Sound Adjustments Changing the Sound If a DVD is recorded with multilingual tracks, you can select the language you want while playing the DVD. If the DVD is recorded in multiple audio formats (PCM, Dolby Digital, MPEG audio, or DTS), you can select the audio format you want while playing the DVD.
