Reference guide
The AMBIENT HIPVAC 50 COBLATION Wand provides fast, efficient, and precise ablation and resection of soft
tissue to meet the demands of the hip arthroscopy surgeon. The rigid shaft, 50 degree tip, and electrode design
provide advantages in bulk debridement and capsular resection. The device also provides accurate real time
temperature monitoring of the intra-articular fluid.
• The AMBIENT HIPVAC 50 Wand is designed for up to 15 minutes of cumulative ablation time
• Backup devices should always be available to avoid any delay prior to or during surgery
Surgical technique tips
•
Ensure suction is connected before using Wand
•
Recommended vacuum range is between 200-400mmHg
•
Ablation set points 7-9 are recommended
•
When inserting and removing the Wand, use caution and avoid contacting the distal portion of cannula and/or slotted cannula
with the shaft or electrode face as this may lead to potential electrode/shaft damage, patient injury and/or patient harm
•
The Wand should be activated off of the target tissue and then moved into light contact with the targeted tissue. While activated,
the Wand should be kept in constant motion.
•
Ensure tip is completely surrounded by irrigant solution when activated
•
To access Coag 2, depress and hold down one of the blue Coag buttons on the Controller face until "1" is shown. Release and depress
the button again. Only available with software 2.02 or higher.
Warnings and precautions
Excessive wear of the electrode may result from vigorous use against bony surfaces; that may lead to compromised performance
resulting in patient injury. We recommend checking the Wand periodically to ensure the electrodes are intact and the device is
functioning as designed. If the electrode is not intact, discontinue use and check the joint cavity by appropriate means.
Please refer to the Instructions for Use (IFU) packaged with the product for a complete list of Warnings, Precautions and Contraindications.
