PTS DP1 User Manual 2 General The PTS DP1 is a flexibly configurable interface adapter for establishing the connections between an optical SCADA link (e.g. as defined in IEC 60870-5) and a PC with RS-232 interfaces, running a protocol testing software. -

The data received from the two optical links are ORed. Identical data are available on both RS-232 interfaces of the PTS DP1. On a half duplex link, the data from both directions can be monitored with the PTS 103 software and only a single serial interface on the PC. -

4 Cables and Connections 4.1 RS-232 Interface Cable The RS-232 cable for connecting the PTS DP1 to a PC is a so-called "Null-Modem" cable. The cable has female D-Sub 9 pin connectors on both ends. The connections between Rx (pin 2) and Tx (pin 3) on the two ends are "crossed". -
