2.1.4 Save and Copy the Current Running Configuration

To save and copy the current running configuration, follow these steps:
1. Log into the WS5000 CLI and from the System Context, use the
a backup of the system configuration file (also known as the site-specific configuration).
WS5000> save configuration siteconfig
2. Use the
directory
command to verify that the site specific configuration file was saved. In the example,
is the file name.
siteconfig.cfg

3. Use the
copy
command to copy the site specific configuration file from the WS5000 Series Switch to the
TFTP server.
WS5000>copy system tftp
4. The system prompts for the file name to download from the WS5000 Series Switch to the TFTP server.
Enter File Name to be copied to TFTP : siteconfig.cfg
IP address of the TFTP server : xxx.xxx.xx.xx
Copying from system to tftp...
File: siteconfig.cfg copied successfully to xxx.xxx.xx.xx
5. Confirm that the file is on the host computer (TFTP site).

2.2 Upgrading the System Image File

To upgrade the system image file, follow these steps:
1. Log into the WS5000 CLI and from the System Context, use the
file from the TFTP server to the system.
WS5000>copy tftp system
2. The system prompts for the file name to download from the TFTP server. Enter the new system image
file name: WS5000_v1.4.1.0-003D.sys.img
3. Use the
directory
command to confirm that the system image file has been copied to switch.

4. Use the
restore
command to restore the switch with the new system image. Type 'y' when asked to
continue, then press [Enter].
WS5000> restore system WS5000_v1.4.1.0-003D.sys.img
This command will reset the system and boot up with the new restored image.

The new system image is updated and the system reboots. The reboot may take several minutes (all
connections to the switch are terminated, temporarily).
