Performing Diagnostic Tests
When your system has a problem, you may be able to
determine whether the problem is caused by the software
or the hardware by running hardware diagnostic tests.
If the problem concerns hardware, the diagnostic tests
will tell you.
If the diagnostic tests run
successfully, then the software is probably at fault.
Consult your service representative when you cannot
resolve the problem.
You can have the system perform diagnostics to test
hardware functions by selecting tests from a menu.
The
Diagnostics Floppy selection is available only from the
Administration menu of the Office of install.
Hardware
diagnostic tests can be run only by rebooting the
system (the menu selection provides information only) .
Caution
Refer to the AT&T
UNIX ®
PC Service
Manual for complete information on
performing diagnostic tests to avoid
destroying files.
