The battery normally requires no charging or maintenance throughout its life;
however, no battery lasts forever. If the battery fails, the date, time, and
configuration information (including passwords) are lost. An error message is
displayed when you turn on the computer.
Refer to "Lithium battery notice" on page x for information about replacing and
disposing of the battery.
To change the battery:

1. Open the computer cover. See "Opening the cover" on page 10.
2. Pivot the drive bay assembly upward to gain access to the system board.
3. Locate the PCI riser. See "Locating components" on page 11.
4. Lift the PCI riser up to gain access to the battery. See "Installing a PCI
adapter" on page 14.
5. Locate the battery. See "Identifying parts on the system board" on page 11.
6. Remove the old battery.
7. Install the new battery.
8. Replace the PCI riser.
9. Close the computer cover, and plug in the power cord. See "Closing the cover
and connecting the cables" on page 20.
