First Time Installation
To install the modular optical drive in your LifeBook
notebook flexible bay, follow these steps. (The configuration
of your system may differ from the illustrations. See your User's
Guide for the location of your flexible bay and method of
releasing the module.)
1.
Select the Unplug or Eject (Windows® 2000) or Safely
Remove Hardware (Windows® XP) icon from the
system tray and select the device you want to remove.
2. Disengage the flexible bay release latch to release the
current device. (Figure 1). This will push your device
out slightly, allowing you to remove the device.
3. Slide your device out until it is clear of the bay.
4. Slide the optical drive into your notebook until it clicks
into place (Figure 2).
Your notebook automatically detects the drive and activates
it within your system. The drive letter associated with the
drive will be created and listed under My Computer and
Microsoft® Windows® Explorer.

Be careful when aligning and seating devices
in the bay. If the fit is incorrect, you may
damage the bay or the device. If the device
does not move easily in the bay, remove it,
and check for dirt or foreign objects. It will
require a firm push to latch the device in place.
