    Requirements for usable media Media that meet the requirements below can be used with this printer. Usable sizes Maximum 483mm width Maximum 329mm length Maximum 70mm thickness Weight 4kg or less Important! • The minimum media width and length that are settable in the User Type for the printer are 30 mm x 30 mm. To print onto media with dimensions smaller than these, you should take precautions to prevent the table from being dirtied with ink.

    Cautions in using this product Do not turn the power off Use the printer with its power turned permanently on. When you are not using the printer, always leave the power on and put the printer into the sleep mode. In the sleep mode, the printer will periodically circulate the ink in its interior and carry out head cleaning automatically.

Conduct periodic maintenance This product requires daily maintenance. • Check the nozzle before and after printing. If nozzle clog is found, conduct a head cleaning.

    Sleep Mode Sleep Mode When you are not using the printer, always leave the power on and put the printer into the sleep mode. If you do not put the printer into the sleep mode, the ink in its interior could settle out and/or coagulate, causing poor image quality or printer failure. If you set the printer's sleep mode, the printer performs the following operation.

    Setting up media WARNING Do not open or close the front cover if you are not in a balanced posture. If you open or close it in an unbalanced posture, your hands or other body parts could get caught in it, possibly resulting in serious injury.
  • Page 28 Adjusting the table's height Open the PG handwheel cover, by pressing on it. • Turn the PG handwheel to lower the table. • Position the media height guide over the table. Turn the PG handwheel to raise the table to the position where the media touches the media height guide.
  • Page 29 Close the front cover slowly, holding it by the places shown in the picture and using both hands. CAUTION When closing the front cover, always use both hands and hold it by the portions specified. Do not place your fingers on the edges of the printer's opening portion, or on any parts around those edges. Your fingers could get caught and be injured.

    Nozzle check and cleaning Before starting everyday operation, please check the nozzle. If nozzle clog is found, conduct cleaning. This printer has the following 2 kinds of nozzle checks: • Nozzle Check - Prints the nozzle check patterns • Nozzle Check B - checks the nozzle for white ink. Prints the nozzle check patterns on a colored background, to make it easy to see the white ink nozzle’s status.
  • Page 33 Cleaning steps Press the [Cleaning] key, so that the “Normal” indicator (one of the Option “Cleaning Mode” indicators) lights steady. Press! Give the [Cleaning] key a long press, for 2 seconds or more.
