    First Steps Inserting the Batteries Open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover. Before opening the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover, hold the camera upside down to prevent the batteries from falling out. The camera, batteries or memory card may be hot immediately after using the camera. Observe caution when removing the batteries or memory card.

    Taking Pictures with the Self-timer The self-timer is useful for self-portraits or reducing the effects of camera shake that occur when the shutter-release button is pressed. When using the self-timer, pictures are taken 10 seconds after the shutter-release button is pressed. When using the self-timer, use of a tripod is recommended.

    Adjusting the Brightness: Exposure Compensation By adjusting exposure compensation when taking pictures, overall image brightness can be adjusted to make images brighter or darker.     Shooting Continuously at High Speed (Sport Continuous) Sport continuous mode allows rapid, continuous shooting while you press and hold the shutter-release button fully. With continuous shooting, instantaneous movements in moving subjects can be captured. • With the default setting of Continuous H, the camera shoots up to 20 images at a rate of up to about 15.3 frames per second (fps).
