pasltlan.
If FM .or AM is selected, rotate the
Gyra-Tauch
TUNING
knab
until
the
desired
statian is tuned. Adjust the valume cantral far
camfartable listening valume.
The tuner sectian .of the Madel 2230 is equ ipped
with electranically
triggered circuits which auta-
matically mute interstatian naise and autamatical-
ly switch ta the proper made .of aperatian far
sterea and manaphanic
FM braadcasts. In addi-
tian, the STE REO indicatar light autamatically
indicates a sterea braadcast.
TUNING
METERS
The Madel 2230 is equipped
with
a SIGNAL
STRENGTH meter.
The SIGNAL
STRENGTH
Meter indicates the
signal strength .of any AM .or FM braadcast.
TUNING
AM: Far .optimum AM receptian, tune ta the
selected statian. Then ratate the tuning knab
slightly back and farth until the maximum reading
is .obtained an the SIGNAL STRENGTH Meter.
FM: Switch the selector to"FM"and tune ta the
desired statian. Then slawly rotate the tuning knab
slightly back and farth until maximum reading is
.obtained an the SIGNAL STRENGTH Meter.
MONO SWITCH
Depressing the MONO pushswitch will canvert all
input signals ta the manaphanic made excluding
signals at the RECORDING OUTPUT and TAPE
dubbing jacks.
While playing a single channel saurce such asTV .or
AM, depress the MONO pushswitch ta feed the
signal thraugh bath channels .of the 2230.
When playing a manaphanic phanagraph recard,
use this pushswitch ta suppress rumble, camman
made naise and pincheffect distartian.
TAPE MONITOR
SWITCH
When this pushswitch is "aut,"
the pragram being
recarded and heard is determ ined by the setting .of
the selector switch. With the TAPE MONITOR
pushswitch "in,"
the ampl ifier input cannectians
are switched ta the .output .of the tape recarder
withaut
affecting the signal presented ta the tape
recarder's input, thus allawing yau ta listen ta the
signal being recarded befare and after recarding.
This switch is alsa knawn as the TAPE-SOU RCE
switch.
LOUDNESS SWITCH
Far mare pleasing tonal balance at law level
listening, the bass and treble shauld be boasted.
With the LOUDNESS switch depressed, the bass
and treble are autamatically baasted at law level
listening and this tanal balance maintained.
LOW FILTER
SWITCH
The law frequency filter can be used ta reduce
turntable rumble and law frequency naise. It will
alsa, hawever, slightly attenuate pragram material,
and shauld therefare
be used judiciausly.
The
"aut"
pasitian
switches the filter
aut .of the
circuits.
HI FILTER
SWITCH
AM radia receptian is sametimes subject ta a high
pitched
interference
"whistle"
fram
a nearby
adjacent AM channel. The high frequency filter
will suppress this interference, the "scratchy" naise
fram phanagraph recards, and tape "hiss." The
filter
will alsa, hawever, slightly attenuate high
frequency pragram material. The "aut"
pasitian
switches the filter aut .of the circuits.
MUTING SWITCH AND LEVEL CONTROL
When tuning ta FM braadcasts with the MUTING
switch in its "in" pasitian, the muting circuit will
eliminate interstatian naise. The muting threshald
can be varied by ratatian the MUTING LEVEL
cantrol an the rear panel. T a prevent muting very
weak statians alang with the naise, the muting
functian
may be turned .off by releasing the
MUTING pushswitch ta "aut"
pasitian, and thus
switching all muting aut .of the FM circuits.
