Precautions for Use:
Nikon EN-EL21 Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries
Before using the product
for
the first
time,
or before using the product follow-
ing an extended period of disuse, charge
the
battery in the MH-28.
·
Do not use the battery at ambient temperatures below 0 oc (32 °F) or above
40
o
c (1 04 oF). Failure to observe this precaution could damage the battery or
impair its performance.
·The
battery w ill not charge if its temperature is below 0 oc (32
oF)
or above
60 oc (140 °F). Capacity may be reduced and charging times may increase at
battery temperatures from 0 octo 10
o
c (32 oF to 50 T) and
from
45 octo 60
o
c
(11 rF to 140 °F).
·The internal temperature of the battery may
ri
se while
the battery
is in use. At-
tempting to charge
the
battery while the internal temperature is elevated will
impair battery performance, and the battery may not charge or may charge
only partially. Wait for the battery
to
cool before charging.
Do not attempt to recharge a ful ly-charged battery. Failure to observe this
precaution will result in reduced battery performance.
Do not move
the
charger or
touch
the battery during charging.
Failure to
ob-
serve this precaution could
in
very rare instances result
in
the charger show-
ing
that
charging is complete when the battery
is
only partially charged. Re-
move and reinsert the battery to begin charging again.
In the event of malfunction, stop use immediately and take the charger
to
a
Nikon-authorized service representative for
inspection.

Attaching the Plug Adapter
Depending on the country or region of purchase, a plug
adapter
may be
supplied with the charger. If a plug adapter is
supplied,
attach it as described
in Step 1, below.

Raise the wall plug (Figure 1-a-CD) and connect the plug adapter (Figure 1-a-
®;
note that the shape of the adapter varies with the country or region of
purchase), making sure
that the
plug is fu lly inserted. Attempting to forcib ly
remove
the
plug adapter could damage the product.

Place
the
battery in the battery bay (Figure
1-b)

Plug
the
charger into a power outlet (Figure 1-c)
The
CHARGE
lamp
wi
ll
sta rt to f1ash slowly (Figure 4-a) Charging is complete when the CHARGE
lamp
stops f1ashing (Figure 4-b).

When charging is complete, unplug the charger and remove the battery
(Figure 5).
