    Introduction The 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer provides integrated hot keys for use with Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) switch products. This function facilitates easy switching between rack-mounted devices. The keyboard has nine programmable hot keys to provide switching functionality between nine devices with an additional wizard key for programming.

    Installation Instructions To install the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer: 1. Determine the rack position for the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer, generally 20U from the bottom of the rack, or user preference. Measuring from the top of the component, use the template on the front and rear of the rack frame to mark the attachment points for the rail-mounting brackets and rear cage nuts.

    Installing the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer Removing the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer To remove the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer from a rack, reverse the order of the steps listed in the “Installation Instructions” section. Removing the Multipurpose Cover Removing the multipurpose cover is an optional procedure that allows the user more flexibility when using the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer.

    Operating the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer Accessing the Keyboard To access the keyboard: 1. Gently push in on the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer to release the locking mechanism in the slides, and then fully extend the unit until the slides lock into place (1).

    Operating the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer Using the Keyboard The 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer features nine hot keys with one programming key available for quick access to the nine most often used rack-mounted devices.     Operating the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer Keyboard Programming The 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer supports up to seven keystrokes for assigning up to nine devices to hot keys. To program a hot key: 1. Press the Programming Wizard key. 2. Press the Print Scrn key.

    Operating the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer Keyboard Hot Key Label The 1U Keyboard Drawer features an overlay above the nine hot keys to allow the user to install a pencil rewritable label. To install the keyboard hot key label: 1. Remove the release liner on the label.

    Operating the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer Cable Locking Mechanism The cables on the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer have a locking mechanism to provide a secure cable connection. You must follow proper procedures when disconnecting these cables. CAUTION: Failure to follow proper disconnect procedures could result in damage to the cables or to your unit.

    Moving the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer Installed in a Rack When moving the 1U Keyboard Drawer installed in the rack, HP recommends that you install the lock plates. The lock plates are included in your kit and should be installed on each side of the unit and rack.
