4.3 The height and width of the handgrips

Height
The height of the handgrips is different for each child. The settings
are adjusted in consultation with the therapist.
The lever for adjusting the height of the handgrips is located at the
bottom of each handgrip bar (see illustration 5).
Push the lever up so that the height can be adjusted. Place the
other handgrip at the same height. After making the height
adjustment, push the levers fully down and verify that the
handgrips have been securely retightened.
The height can also be varied by adjusting the width of the
handgrips (see next section, 'Width').
Width
The width of the handgrips is different for each child.
The settings are adjusted in consultation with the therapist.
The screw for adjusting the width is located at the back of the handgrips (see illustration 6).
Hold on to the handgrip with one hand and loosen the adjusting screw with the other hand by
turning it to the left and set the desired width. Place the other handgrip at the same width.
Securely retighten the adjusting screws after making the adjustment and verify that the
handgrips are firmly in place.
To return the handgrips to a comfortable position, loosen the other adjusting screw (see
illustration 7). Hold on to the handgrip with one hand and loosen the adjusting screw with the
other hand by turning it to the left and set the handgrip to the desired position. Do the same
thing with the other handgrip. Securely retighten the setscrews after making the adjustment and
verify that the handgrips are firmly in place.
