First,removethephaseplugsfromthewoofers(if present)bypushingdownfirmly/evenlyontheplug withthumbandindexfingerandturning1/4turn counter-clockwisetounlockandremove.Thephase plugswillnotbeusedincoaxialconfigurationand shouldbesetasideforpossiblefutureuse. Itisabsolutelyvitalthatthespeakerframe fitsintothemountingholecleanly.Thismustbe checkedpriortotighteningthescrews.Donot forcetheframeintoaholethatistoosmall.Do nottightenthespeakerontoanunevensurface. Thiswilldamageyourspeakers.Thespeaker shouldalsofitsothatairdoesnotleakaround themountingflange.Airleakswillcauseasevere degradationinsoundquality.Sealanyairleaks withanautomotive-gradesealantmaterial. Usethesuppliedmountingclipsunlessthefactory holesalreadyfeaturethreadedinserts. Flush-mount Installation Thedometweeterssuppliedwithyour C3-525systemhavebeendesignedtointegratewith yourinstallationinaclean,unobtrusivemanner usingaflush-mountcup.Thiscompactmounting fixtureisinstalledusingthemethodillustratedin DiagramKandrequiresamountingholewitha diameterof1.875in.(47.6mm). Atleast1.70-inch(43.2mm)ofclearanceis requiredbehindthemountingsurfaceofthetweeter forthespringclipsand1-inchmachinescrews usedinmountingthefixture.Inlimiteddepth applications,itmaybenecessarytocutdownthe lengthofthemachinescrew,ortouseashorterscrew (notsupplied).Hand-tightenthemachinescrewuntil thefixtureissecure(SeeDiagramK). 12 | JL Audio - C3-525 Owner’s Manual surface-mount Installation Inthisapplication,youwillnotneedtocut largeholesinyourvehicle’spanelsforthetweeters.
