Safety warnings
Read and save the following safety instructions:
• Mechanical loading: To avoid personal injury or damage to the appliance,
Fortinet recommends that two or more people together install the appliance into
the rack. Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that it does not
cause uneven mechanical loading and tipping. Do not place heavy objects on the
appliance.
• Grounding: Do not connect or disconnect cables during lightning activity
to avoid damage to your Fortinet product or personal injury. Ensure your
Fortinet product is connected and properly grounded to a lightning and surge
protector. WAN or LAN connections that enter the premises from outside the
building should be connected to an surge protector. To prevent damage to
your equipment, Fortinet recommends using an electrostatic discharge (ESD)
workstation and/or wearing an anti-static wrist strap when working with the
appliance. Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Ethernet cables should be used whenever
possible rather than Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP).
• Battery and power cord: Use only the power cord and batteries indicated in
this manual. Use only the power cord and batteries indicated in this manual. Risk
of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries
according to your local regulations.
FortiVoice 200D-T model only:
• Line cord: To reduce the risk of fire, use only No. 26 AWG or larger (e.g, 24
AWG) UL Listed or CAS Certified telecommunication line cord.
• Earthing terminal: This is a pluggable type A equipment installed in a restricted
access location. It has a separate protective earthing terminal (M5 type and
10 mm size) provided on the back of the product in addition to the grounding
pin of the power supply cord. This separate protective earthing terminal must
be permanently connected to earth and the connection is to be installed by a
qualified service personnel.
• Disconnect TNV circuit connector before removing cover.
• When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should
always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons,
including the following:
a. Do not use this product near water for example, near a bathtub, washbowl,
kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool.
b. Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm.
There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
