There are seven available screens. You can customize
the number of home screens, up to the maximum of
seven. Dots in the lower part of the screen indicate the
current home screen, and its position to other home
screens.

2A. Device Basics
, located at the top of all Home screens,
Status bar
displays icons for notifications, such as email
messages, calls (missed, call in progress), new
voicemail, upcoming events, USB connection, and
text/MMS, plus status icons for signal strength and
battery level.
Primary Shortcuts
are the bottom row of application
shortcuts that remain static on all home screens (by
default Phone, Contacts, Messaging, Internet and
Apps).
Shortcuts
are icons that launch available device
applications such as the preloaded shortcuts Email
and Voicemail.
Widgets
are self-contained apps that run on the
Home screen (not shortcuts). These can be placed
onto any of the available screens (Home or
Extended).
