REVEAL
Brighter lighting. Standard Bi ‑Xenon headlamps generate light that's
closer in perception to natural daylight than halogen headlamps, while
headlamp washers help keep the lamps cleaner with a high ‑pressure spray
of heated fluid. New for 2013, brilliant white LED Daytime Running Lamps
help to assert your presence more effectively to other drivers. LED turn
signals in the new side mirrors are designed to be easily seen by drivers in
the adjacent lane, or even pedestrians waiting to enter a crosswalk.
Advanced sensors. Whether negotiating the wilderness or a crowded
city, automated features help you keep your focus on the road and your
surroundings. A multi ‑ element sensor turns on the headlamps not just
at dusk but as you enter a dark garage or tunnel. The windshield wipers
automatically adapt their speed and frequency to rainfall measured on the
glass. The electrically heated windshield can start clearing mist, fog and
ice even before the engine warms up. And the rear‑window wiper swipes
automatically when you shift to Reverse while the front wipers are on.
Blind Spot Assist. A new standard system can alert you to some unseen
vehicles in the adjacent lane
12
by illuminating an icon in either side mirror.
If you signal for a lane change while a vehicle is detected, a tone sounds.
Rear view camera. When you shift to Reverse, a live view of the area
behind your G ‑Class is shown on the large in ‑dash screen.
PARKTRONIC, whose ultrasonic sensors and in‑cabin displays help you
detect and avoid nearby obstacles in front of or behind your vehicle.
PREPARE
Body structure. The fully galvanized steel G ‑Class body is welded at more
than 6,000 points, for exceptional strength. It's mounted to a fully boxed
ladder‑type frame that's flow‑treated with 50 liters of wax to help it resist
corrosion over years of use. Each vehicle takes more than 40 hours for its
artisans to craft by hand, but it creates a lifetime of legendary durability.
Adaptive braking. The 4‑ wheel disc brakes incorporate technology to
help make driving more reassuring and relaxing in a variety of situations.
If the driver lifts off the accelerator quickly, Predictive Brake Priming sets
the pads closer to the discs for quicker response. In the rain, Automatic
Brake Drying periodically applies the brakes gently, to sweep away water
buildup. Hill ‑ Start Assist helps prevent unwanted rollback during uphill
starts. And a HOLD feature can help make stop ‑ and ‑ go traffic easier.
Towing. Every G ‑Class can tow up to 7,000 lbs when properly equipped
with an aftermarket trailer hitch.
Assist integrates with the sensors for ESP to help detect trailer oscillation,
and strategically applies the vehicle's front brakes to help restore control.

yet another Mercedes‑Benz innovation, adapts your set speed in response

outboard seating positions, and include a rollover sensor. Each of the four
outboard seat belts is equipped with both an Emergency Tensioning Device
(ETD) and a belt ‑ force limiter. Every seating position features its own
adjustable head restraint, including NECK‑PRO active head restraints for
the front seats that are designed to help reduce whiplash in a rear impact.
