Important Safety Information

Required Power Supply
• This combination smoke-CO alarm requires a
working 9-volt battery to operate properly.
Recommended Coverage
• Because smoke in one area may not reach a
smoke alarm in another, smoke alarms are
recommended in every room and on every
level of the home. Interconnected alarms can
provide better whole-home protection than
stand-alone alarms.
• CO alarms are recommended near bedrooms
and sleeping areas where they can wake
sleeping residents. Additional CO alarms are
recommended 5-20 feet from sources of CO
like a furnace, water heater, or fireplace.
Installation
• Observe and follow all local and national
building codes for installation.
Compliance
• This combination alarm is designed to be used
in ordinary indoor locations of single-family
households only.
• The sensitivity of both the smoke and CO
sensors, and the horn patterns for both warn-
ings, comply with UL/ULC standards.

General Limitations
• This alarm cannot alert every household mem-
ber every time if it cannot be heard because of
location, obstructions, ambient noise, condi-
tion of residents, etc. It is not intended to alert
residents who are hard of hearing.
• ALL alarms have limitations. This combination
smoke-CO alarm is not foolproof and is not
warranted to protect lives or property. It is not
a substitute for insurance.
• Because it is possible for the alarm to fail at
any time, you must test the alarm weekly and
replace it every 5 years.
• Smoke alarms can sound an alarm only when
smoke reaches their sensors. Smoke may not
reach the smoke alarm QUICKLY ENOUGH to
ensure safe escape. They do not sense heat,
flame, or gas.
• CO Alarms are designed to detect carbon
monoxide gas from any source of combustion
that reach their sensor. They are NOT
designed to detect smoke, fire, or any other
type of gas.
IMPORTANT: Please see Chapter VII
"Important Safety Information" for detailed
safety considerations and alarm limitations
before installing or using this alarm.
