The keyboard supports small and capital letters of the
alphabet, numbers, punctuation, calculation symbols and
characters with accents.

To operate the calculator, to enter numbers and select
functions in other applications.

To exit applications or to abort operations and return to the
previous menu.
4. Keyboard
To enter characters and commands.
5. Home and Menu key
Use Home key to go back to the Home menu. Use Menu
key to display the application menu with operations and
comments specific to the particular application.
6. Application
Starts appropriate application including Home Time Clock,
Calculator, Schedule, Contact, To Do and Memo.
REPLACING THE BATTTERIES
The PDA183 uses two CR2032 batteries.
CAUTION
Make sure to switch off the unit before battery replacement.
Always use good quality new lithium batteries.
Use two CR2032 batteries.
Replace one battery at a time.
Always make sure at least one battery is inserted properly in
one slot when replacing the battery in order to avoid losing data
stored in memory.
Replace the batteries:
1. Unlock the battery door by sliding the switch below it to the
left. Then open the battery door.
2. Remove the old battery from the left slot. Insert a new battery.
Maker sure it is inserted according to the correct polarity
shown (negative pole face down).
3. Remove the old battery from the right slot. Insert a new battery.
Make sure it is inserted according to the correct polarity shown
(negative pole face down).
4. Replace the battery door and slide the switch back to the right
to lock in place.
5. The unit should be switched on only when the cover is locked.

TURNING THE PDA ON
The PDA comes on automatically once you have pull out the
battery tape. The PDA also features an "Auto off" function, which
is set at the factory to 3 minutes. That means that the unit will
switch itself off automatically if it is not operated for 3 minutes.
You can change the "Auto off" function in "System Settings".
To turn the PDA back on, press the POWER button on the left-hand
side of the unit. The PDA goes back to the screen that was accessed
when the unit switched itself off.
Always use the pen to tap the screen and keyboard to access the
applications, and remember to slide it back into its protective holder
on the side of the PDA when you have finished using it.
USING YOUR PDA FOR THE FIRST TIME
WELECOME/INITIAL SETTINGS
After you have pull out the battery tape, the PDA is switched on and
displays a welcome screen.
Before the PDA will function normally, you need to enter certain
data. Tap ENTER. The screen will show USER NAME. Using the
keyboard, type in your name here and tap ENTER.
The screen displays CONTENT. Enter the content and tap ENTER.
The screen displays HOME CITY. Using the arrow keys, scroll
through the list until you reach your home city. To get to your home
city more quickly, tap the first letter of the city (e.g. H for Hong
Kong) and then scroll through. When your home city is highlighted,
tap ENTER to confirm.
The unit then asks you to set the date. Simply input the correct date
by tapping on the appropriate numbers on the keyboard. Tap
ENTER to confirm. The initial format is DD-MM-YYYY. You can
change this format later.
The next screen asks you to set the time. Input the correct time in
the same way as the date. The initial format is the 12-hour clock:
when you reach the a.m. or p.m. setting, tap "a" to set the clock to
a.m. or "p" to set it to p.m. You can change to the time format later.
Tap ENTER to confirm.
The display then goes to the main menu.
All the data you have just entered can be changed in normal
operation in SYSTEM SETUP.
RESETTING YOUR PDA
To reset your PDA, press the reset button on the back (underneath
the battery compartment lock switch). The display will show the
initialization screen: "Init. System?".
Tapping twice on NO will not reset the system parameters to the
factory defaults but will return the system to the settings you have
input.
Tap YES to reset the system to the default settings. The screen will
then ask you "Clean up mem.?".
Tapping NO will again return the system to the settings already
input.

Caution! Tap YES to clean up all the data stored in the memory.
Only perform a memory clean-up if an initialization procedure does
not solve your problem.
The screen will then display the welcome message, and you can
input the new information you want as described above.
ICON OR TEXT MENU
The main menu is displayed either as icons or as text.
The first thing to do once you have input the necessary data
(see above) is to set the functions to either ICON or TEXT.
When using icons, you can tap the icon on the screen directly twice
to enter the highlighted application.
With the text menu, you can either tap ENTER to access the
highlighted application, or the corresponding letter or number
directly (e.g. 2. CONTACT, A. CALCULATOR).
To set ICON or TEXT, first go to the HOME menu by tapping
the HOME icon on the keyboard. Tap on the arrow keys on the
keyboard to move through the applications. Go to SYSTEM
SETUP (H or the icon
ICON/TEXT MENU", and then use the arrow keys to toggle
between the two settings. Tap ENTER to confirm your choice.
Or tap the corresponding number on the keys (1 or 2). The screen
will go back automatically to SYSTEM SETUP.
To go back to the HOME menu, you can tap on the HOME icon on
the keyboard at any time. To return to the previous menu, tap on
Esc.
DATE AND TIME FORMATS
You can change the date and time formats in SYSTEM SETUP.
Access the date format by going to "4. Date Format" in SYSTEM
SETUP and selecting the format you want (1. DD-MM-YYYY,
2. MM-DD-YYYY or 3. YYYY-MM-DD). Tap ENTER to confirm.
Or simply tap the corresponding number.
Do the same under "3. Time Format" to set the time format
(1. 12-hour clock or 2. 24-hour clock).
CHANGING THE DATE AND TIME SETTINGS
To set the time, access the Home Time menu from the Home menu
(highlight 7. Home Time or the icon
The settings already input will be shown. Tap the MENU key
(next to the HOME key at the bottom right of the keyboard).
Use the arrow keys and ENTER or the corresponding number to go
to "2. Set Date/Time" Then simply input the correct date and time
by tapping on the numbers on the keyboard as described above in

APPLICATIONS
Now that you have completed setting up the basic functions of your
PDA, you can start to use the different applications. Here are help
files for the individual applications, so that you can quickly find
your way around your PDA.
Most of the actions you need to take are self-explanatory, and your
PDA takes you through them step by step.
HOME MENU
You can access all the applications from the HOME menu. You can
get to the HOME menu at any time simply by tapping the HOME
icon at the bottom left of the keyboard.
If you have chosen the ICON set-up, use the arrow keys to navigate
around the HOME menu and tap the icon you want on screen to
access that application.
If you have chosen the TEXT set-up, you can also use the arrow
keys to navigate and then press ENTER when the desired
application is highlighted, or tap the appropriate number or letter.
There are two hot keys at the bottom of the keyboard for accessing
Home time clock and Calculator directly.
There are also six hard hot keys below the keyboard. The two in the
middle help you to scroll up and down through display screens.
You can use the other four to access, from left to right,
SCHEDULE, CONTACT, TO DO and MEMO directly.

] SCHEDULE
This application keeps a record of your daily schedule. Records are
listed in chronological order.
Once you have entered this application, you can tap NEW to input a
new record. Set the time you require by inputting the numbers.
If you make a mistake, use the arrow back key to go back. Set the
time, then tap ENTER. Input the content of the record and tap
ENTER. Then set the alarm to on or off. The PDA will then save
the record.
When viewing a record, you can edit or delete it or enter a new
record by tapping on the MENU key and then selecting the function
you want (1. EDIT, 2. DELETE or 3. NEW).
In SCHEDULE, tapping the MENU key takes you to a new menu,
from where you can go to the CALENDAR, GO TO a particular
date, add a NEW record or call up the HELP menu for
SCHEDULE.

] CONTACT
CONTACT is an address book, in which you can input names,
addresses, telephone nos. and e-mail addresses. Contact persons are
listed in alphabetical order.
When in the CONTACT application, tap NEW to enter a new
contact. Input the details and press ENTER to confirm. You can also
tap MENU to conduct a KEYWORD SEARCH of all the contact
records, add a NEW contact or access the HELP menu.
Tap ENTER to view a record, then MENU to EDIT or DELETE the
record or to add a NEW record.
