Compaq Hot Plug Redundant System Fan Option Kit
When upgrading earlier versions of the Pentium III Xeon 500 MHz models (those
shipped prior to and during Q1,00 and equipped with a single, hot plug rear fan) to use
Pentium III Xeon 550 MHz processors, you are required to install the Hot Plug
Redundant System Fan Kit (P/N 157984-B21) to ensure proper operation of your
system. Install the fan kit prior to or at the time of upgrading the processors in order to
protect your server from the demanding thermal environment created by the increasing
power of the newest processor technology. Failure to purchase and install this option kit
may void the warranty or potentially damage the server. In addition to ensuring the
proper operation of your server, installation of the kit provides the added benefit of
providing fan redundancy across all the major subsystem components ( I/O, memory,
and CPUs) of your server.

(The Compaq ProLiant 6400R ships standard with one hot plug power supply in bay
one. For redundancy, a purchase of one Compaq Hot Plug Redundant Power Supply
Option Kit (105739-xx1) is required and can be installed in bay two.)
