The S - Class has a history of leading the way forward not just at an impressive pace, but with exceptional grace. Its advanced
engines deliver emphatic performance with a gentler touch to the earth. They turn less fuel into more power, with fewer emissions.
And they do it with more power choices than any other car in its class: Two twin-turbo V-8s with precise Direct Injection. An exotic
pair of twin -turbo V-12s. The world's first production hybrid with a lithium-ion battery. And a smooth, strong BlueTEC clean diesel.
Every S -Class also puts it best foot forward in other ways, too. An adaptive, self- leveling air suspension or an uncanny fully active
suspension each balance crisp control with velvety comfort. And available 4
sharp, dry corners with equal enthusiasm. Remarkably, each of these advances is rooted in performance breakthroughs that were
first introduced by Mercedes -Benz over the years. But history isn't made by looking back. It happens when you leap ahead.
Motivated. Six engine choices offer an impressive blend
of swift response, surprising efficiency and low emissions.
The 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6

of the S 350 BlueTEC emits
fewer greenhouse gases than most gasoline engines. Two
advanced Direct Injection V- 8s in the S 550 and S 63 AMG
feature twin turbochargers spinning up to 185,000 rpm,
and rapid -multispark ignition that can fire four times in a
millisecond. All three of these engines generate more than
450 lb-ft of torque at well under 2,000 rpm, and deliver it
with the smooth, efficient response of a 7-speed automatic
transmission. The remaining S- Class powerplant choices
are no less compelling: In the innovative S 400 HYBRID, an
effiicient gasoline V-6 teams up with a torque-rich electric
motor and lithium-ion battery via a clever ECO- Stop/Start
system. And a duo of sublimely smooth twin-turbocharged
V-12s propel the majestic S 600 and S 65 AMG Sedans.

Composed. The S - Class driver can enjoy spirited handling
while all aboard savor its serene ride. Air- cushioned, semi-
active AIRMATIC suspension employs our Adaptive Damping
System (ADS) to expertly balance ride and handling as road
conditions change. It teams up with our Direct-steer system
to ease parking effort while sharpening high- speed stability.
Active Body Control (ABC) is standard on the S 600 and AMG
models, and an S 550 option.

Arguably the most advanced
fully active suspension in production, ABC instantly generates
counterforces of its own to optimize comfort and control, and
to provide uncannily flat cornering. Both ABC and AIRMATIC
feature driver- selectable Sport and Comfort modes, 4 - wheel
self- leveling, and automatic lowering of the car at higher
speeds, to enhance both stability and efficiency.
Poised. Large yet lightweight 18" alloy wheels are standard
on most models, while the S 600 rides on staggered-width
19" wheels. Race - bred 20" AMG alloys outfit the two AMG
sedans. A selection of optional 19" wheels with versatile all -
season tires and 20" wheels with high-performance tires is
also offered. Included among them are the legendary style
and quality of AMG wheels, presented in either of two Sport
Packages for the S 350 BlueTEC, S 400 HYBRID and S 550.
