    GETTING STARTED TILT STEERING COLUMN • The tilt lever is located on the steering column, below the turn signal lever. • Push down on the lever to unlock the steering column. • With one hand firmly on the steering wheel, move the steering column up or down as desired.

    GETTING STARTED HEATED SEATS Front Heated Seats • The controls for the front heated seats are located on the center instrument panel area. • Press the switch once to select High- level heating. Press the switch a sec- ond time to select Low-level heating. Press the switch a third time to shut the heating elements Off.

    OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS • A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle. • Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.
  • Page 23 OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE Instrument Panel Dimmer • Rotate the center portion of the lever to the extreme bottom position to fully dim the instrument panel lights and prevent the interior lights from illuminating when a door is opened. • Rotate the center portion of the lever up to increase the brightness of the instrument panel lights when the parking lights or headlights are on.

  • Page 73 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES - Engine Temperature Warning Light • This light warns of an overheated engine condition. • If the light turns on and a warning chime sounds while driving, safely pull over and stop the vehicle. If the A/C system is on, turn it off. Also, shift the transmission into NEUTRAL and idle the vehicle.
  • Page 74 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES - Oil Pressure Warning Light • This light indicates low engine oil pressure. If the light turns on while driving, stop the vehicle and shut off the engine as soon as possible. A chime will sound when this light turns on.

    WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES Fuel Cap/Loose Gas Cap Message • If a “gas cap” message (shown as gASCAP) appears, tighten the gas cap until a “clicking” sound is heard. • Press the odometer reset button, located below the tachometer, to turn the message off.

    WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES WARNING! You or others can be badly burned by hot engine coolant (antifreeze) or steam from your radiator. If you see or hear steam coming from under the hood, do not open the hood until the radiator has had time to cool. Never try to open a cooling system pressure cap when the radiator or coolant bottle is hot.
  • Page 77 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES Preparations For Jacking 1. Park the vehicle on a firm level surface, avoiding ice or slippery areas. 2. Turn on the Hazard Warning flasher. 3. Set the parking brake. 4. Place the shift lever in PARK (automatic transmission) or REVERSE (manual transmission).

The front locations are outlined by two triangular cutouts, the rear locations by two rectangular cutouts. • For vehicles equipped with plastic trim, the plastic has been cut away to expose the jacking locations in the body.

Install the spare wheel and wheel nuts with the cone shaped end of the nuts toward the wheel. Lightly tighten the nuts. NOTE: The wheel cover is held on the wheel by the wheel nuts.
  • Page 80 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES Road Tire Installation Vehicles Equipped With Wheel Covers 1. Mount the road tire on the axle. 2. To ease the installation process for steel wheels with wheel covers, install two lug nuts on the mounting studs which are on each side of the valve stem. Install the lug nuts with the cone shaped end of the nut toward the wheel.
  • Page 81 WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES Vehicles Without Wheel Covers 1. Mount the road tire on the axle. 2. Install the remaining lug nuts with the cone shaped end of the nut toward the wheel.
