    Chapter 1 Getting Started The WNHD3004 is an Access Point/Bridge that by default runs in "Auto" mode. In this mode, it detects whether it has a wired connection to a router (with DHCP server). If it does, it automatically sets itself to "Access Point"(the top of the user interface screen displays "access point manager").

    WPS automatically configures the wireless client with the same network name (SSID) and wireless security settings on the access point. Note: NETGEAR’s Push 'N' Connect feature is based on the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard (for more information, see http://www.wi-fi.org). All other Wi-Fi- certified and WPS-capable products should be compatible with NETGEAR products that implement Push 'N' Connect.

    If you select Static IP as the LAN Connection Type, these additional fields appear on the screen: • Access Point IP Address. The LAN IP address of the WNHD3004. • Subnet Mask. The LAN subnet mask of the router. Combined with the IP address, the IP subnet mask allows a device to know which other addresses are local to it, and which must be reached through a gateway or router.

    DHCP and information about how to assign IP addresses for your network. By default, the DHCP server of WNHD3004 is disabled. You can enable it to assign IP, DNS server, and default gateway addresses to all computers connected to the LAN. The assigned default gateway address is the LAN address of the router.
