Step 8. Line up the new system fan then secure it to the chassis and motherboard with the screws.
Step 9. Connect the new system fan power cable to the motherboard.
Step 10. Reattach the EMI cover, back deco, the computer cover and computer stand.

Replacing the heatsink

Note: Turn off the computer and wait 3 to 5 minutes to let it cool down before removing the cover.
Note: It may be helpful to place the computer face-down on a soft flat surface for this procedure. Lenovo
recommends that you use a blanket, towel, or other soft cloth to protect the computer screen from scratches
or other damage.
To replace the heatsink:
Step 1. Remove the computer cover. Refer to "Removing the computer cover".
Step 2. Remove the back deco. Refer to "Removing the back deco".
Step 3. Remove the computer stand. Refer to "Removing the computer stand".
Step 4. Remove the EMI cover. Refer to "Removing the EMI cover".
Step 5. Remove the system fan. Refer to "Replacing the system fan ".
Step 6. Remove the screws that secure the heatsink to the motherboard.
Step 7. Remove the heatsink by lifting it up. (Heatsink may varies between models)
Type 1– 8 screws.
