7. Remove the hard drive from the chassis.
8. Remove the three shoulder screws from the hard drive and install them in the same
positions on the new hard drive. There is one shoulder screw on one side and two shoulder
screws on the opposite side of the drive.
Install a replacement hard drive as follows.
If not already installed, install the three shoulder screws on the replacement hard drive, in

the same position as they were on the old drive.
2. Hold the hard drive over the drive bay, with the drive connectors facing the rear of the
chassis.
Plug the hard drive signal and power cables into their respective connectors on the hard

drive.
Note
Be sure to use the long power cable to connect to the hard drive. The short power cord
must be used for the 5 1/4-inch accessible device.
Align the three shoulder screws with their respective shoulder screw slots and lower the

hard drive into the chassis. Check that the screws are in the slots.
5. Slide the hard drive towards the front of the chassis, following the path of the shoulder
screw slots.
6. Align the fastener hole in the hard drive with the corresponding hole in the chassis and
secure the drive in place with the previously removed hard drive screw.
Tighten the previously loosened shoulder screw.

8. Lower the device bracket halfway, and plug in the CD-ROM drive signal and power cables.
If required, plug in the CD-ROM drive audio cable.
9. Lower the device bracket into the chassis until it locks in place.
