Placing the ring over the surface unit will cause a build-up of heat that will damage the porcelain cooktop. Do not try to use such woks without the ring. Your could be seriously burned if the wok tipped over.

Terminals To replace a plug-in unit: Place the drip pan/ring into the surface unit cavity found on top of the cooktop so the unit receptacle can be seen through the opening in the pan. Insert the terminals of the plug-in unit through the opening in the drip pan and into the receptacle.
