    On Position Initializing the Receiver The GPS Receiver must be initialized (given an opportunity to determine its location) before you can begin using it for navigation. Before it can receive signals from GPS satellites overhead, you must turn the receiver on.

The GPS receiver slows the frequency at which it calculates your location and therefore requires less battery power with the result being a slight loss in position accuracy.

    New Elevation Window New Location The GPS Receiver must be re-initialized (given an opportunity to determine its location) if you have moved more than 600 miles from your original location. To speed up this process, you can use the map to mark your approximate location.
