Recommended gear oil:

Except for STi model with driver's control
center differential
GL-5 (75W-90) or equivalent
STi model with driver's control center differ-
ential
GL-5 [LSD oil (90)] or equivalent
Oil capacity:
Except for STi model:
0.8 2 (0.8 US qt, 0.7 lmp qt)
STi model:
0.9 — 1.12
(1.0 — 1.2 US qt, 0.8 — 1.0 lmp qt)
NOTE:
• Each oil manufacturer has its base oil and addi-
tives. Thus, do not mix two or more brands.
• For STi model with driver's control center differ-
ential, use mechanical LSD model.
5) Install the filler plug or oil temperature switch
onto rear differential gear case firmly.
NOTE:
• Apply fluid packing to the filler plug or oil temper-
ature switch threads for T type.
Fluid packing:
Three Bond 1105 (Part No. 004403010)
• Use a new aluminum gasket for VA type.
Tightening torque:
T type:
49.0 N·m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.2 ft-lb)
VA type:
34 N·m (3.5 kgf-m, 25.3 ft-lb)
