Service providers must be able to quickly and easily change network configurations. Whether these changes are new
network devices, transport provisioning or the addition of new services, configuration can be slow and cumbersome
using CLI. Misconfigurations and slow deployment of new services or devices are a common side effect.

network configurations. Whether these
changes are new network devices, the transport provisioning
or the addition of new services, configuration can be slow and
cumbersome using CLI. Misconfigurations and slow deploy-
ment of new services or devices are a common side effect.
The powerful visualization capabilities of Ridgeline provide
detailed graphical representations of the network, coupled with
point-and-click provisioning, greatly reduce the likelihood of
human error. A user-friendly interface allows the operator to
select and auto-provision specific network elements by choos-
ing the appropriate application to execute from a drop-down
menu.
The point-and-click provisioning capabilities enable the net-
work operator to provision the following services and protocols:

• The E-Line and E-LAN service structure includes a
bandwidth management capability to ensure that service
profiles are accurately applied.
Ridgeline also contains a powerful scripting capability that
allows network operators to automate provisioning of devices
and protocols. It provides a comprehensive set of programming
control structures that allow an operator to create complex
provisioning workflows. These workflows (scripts) can be
run once or scheduled using a convenient job scheduler. In
addition, Ridgeline manages and allows the customization
of ExtremeXOS® CLI scripts—a very efficient way to roll out a
network using configuration templates.
