The AF illuminatur supplies fill light to focus more easily on a suhject in dark surroundiugs.
The AF illumiuator emits red light allowing the camera to focus easily when the shutter butt(m
is pressed halB,vay, until the focus is locked. The D_oN indicatur appears at this time.
Does nol use AF illuminator.
• If the AF illuminalor ligla does not math the su{!iect suflicienlly or the subject has no contrast, locus will
not be achieved, (A dislance of up to approximalely 2.7 in (106 3/8 inches) (zoom: W) / 2.5 nl
(98 112 inches) (zoom: T) is recommended.)
• Focus is aclfieved as long as the AF ilhmfinalor light reaches lhe subjecl, even if the ligbl is sligblly oll the
cenler of the subjecl,
• When Focus preset is _1 (page 38), AF Illuminator does nol fimclion.
• The AF range finder fiame does not appeal. The m, m or m indicalor flashes, and AF operates with
priorily on su{!iects localed near the center of the lramc.
• The AF ilhmfinator does not operate when ..,J (Twiligla mode), [] (Landscape mode), ,'-_l'_ (High-speed
shutter mode) or _f_{_(Fireworks mode) is selected in the Scene mode.
• The AF ilhmfinator enfits very bright ligbl. Although there are no problems with salcty, do not look
directly inlo the AF illuminalor emiuer at close range.
