AC POWER OPERATION
Plug one end of the AC lice cord into the AC Input
Jack on the left side of the cabinet,and the oppoelte
end into 120-vott AC householdoutlet. Plugging
the AC lice cord into the set automatically discon-
nects the batteries.
The polarized AC line plug (one blade is wider) is
a safety feature. The plug fds into the power outlet
only one way. If the plug doesn't go into the outlet
completely, tum the plug over and put it in the other
way. If itstilldoesn't fit, contact a qualifiedeleclzJcian
to change the outlet. Do not defeat the safety
purpose of the polarized plug.
NOTE: Disconnect the AC line cord from the unit
for batteW operation.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
Unlatch and remove the compartment door
located on the cabinet back.
Insert6 "D'-size betteriesinto battery compart-
ment Be surethe (+)or cap and of each bettery
is installed as shown on the battery diagram.
Replace battery compartment door.
NOTE: This unit will not operate on battery power
unlessAC lice cord is disconnectedas well as from
the AC outlet.
CD operation requires more power than Tape
operation and Tape operation requiresmore power
than Radio operation; therefore, you may continue
to use the same batteries for a while longer by
switching to a function requiring less power.
The POWER INDICATOR will light indicatingPower
"ON" when the FUNCTION switch is in the RADIO
or the DISC position. If the FUNCTION switch is in
TAPE position, the INDICATOR will light when a
TAPE operation button is activated.
When operating the unit on battery power, the
brightnesslevel of the INDICATORindicatesbattery
level. If the INDICATOR is dim (or does not light)
the batteriesare weak and need replacing.
The Speakers can be used attached to the unit or,
to enhance the stereo effect, separated from the
center section.
To Connect the Speaker Cords:
Connect the right speaker wires to the red and
black speaker terminals (on the back of the center
section)marked R (right),and the leftspeaker wires
to the terminals marked L (left). (The red wire goes
to the red terminal.)
To Detach the Speakers:
1. Disconnect the speaker cords from the center
section's speaker terminals.
2. Push inwardon the Releases at the bottom side
edges at the back of the canter section.
To facilitate speaker removal:
• Push inward on the Release and simulta-
neously lift the speaker slightlyto clear
the catch.
3. Then, slide the speakers up and off the center
section.
4. Place speakers in desired location, unwrap
required cord length from cord wraps and re-
connect speaker cords as indicated above.
To Re-Attach Speakers:
1. Alignthe past on the sideof thespeakercabinets
with the channels on the sides of the center
section and slide the speakers down until they
lock in place.
2. Wrap any excess speaker cord onto the cord
wrap on the back of each speaker.
NOTE: For good sound reproduction, place the
speakers at ear level, at least seven feet apart and
facing you. Placingthe speakersclose to walls will
accentuatethebassresponse. T o eliminate this effect,
keep the speakerstwo or three feet from wall areas.
