fitting
the drive links inthe c lutch drum s procket.
8. Fit b ottom o fdrive l inks b etween

teeth i nthe sprocket
inthe nose ofthe
guide bar>
9. Fit c hain drive links i nto b ar groove.
10. Pull guide bar forward
until chain issnug
in guide bar groove.
Ensure
aN drive links
are inthe bar groove.
11. Now, install chain brake making
sure t he
adjusting
pin ispositioned
inthe lower
hole i n the guide bar> Remember
this p in
moves
the bar forward
and b ackward
as
the screw i sturned.
12. Install chain brake nuts and f inger tighten
only. Once the chain istensioned,
you
win n eed totighten chain brake nuts.

NOTE: When a djusting
chah_ tension,
make sure t he chah_
brake nuts a re finger
tight only. Attempting
totension
the chain
when t he chain b rake nuts a re tight can
cause damage.
Checking thetension:
Use t he s crewdriver
end o fthe chain adjust-
ment tool (bar tool) tomove the c hain around
the bar. Ifthe chain does not rotate, itistoo
tight. Iftoo loose, the chain will sag below the
bar.

Adjusting
the tension:
Chah_ tension
is very
h-nportant.
Chain
stretches
during use. This is especially
true
during the first few times you use your saw.
Always
check
chain tension
each time you
use and refuel your saw.
You can adjust the chain tension
by loosen-
ing the chain brake nuts and turning the ad-
justing screw
1/4 of a turn while lifting up on
the bar.
• If chain is too tight, turn adjusting screw 1/4
turn counterclockwise.
• If chain is too loose, turn adjusting
screw
1/4 turn clockwise.

• Lift up the tip of the bar and securely tight-
en the chain brake nuts with the bar tool.
• Recheck
chain tension.

the guide bar and result in serious
