How to Identify a VCR
The remote control has been set to operate your TV
and many infrared remote
control VCRs.
However, an
easy one-time
"Identify"
step may be necessary
before
the remote
will operate
your VCR.
Before
going to the "Identify"
section,
try the "Initial
VCR Code
Check"
to see if the remote
is already
set
to operate
your
VCR,

code
number
for your
VCR
before
going
through
the DIRECT
ENTRY
steps.

SEARCH
method
of "Identifying"
the VCR (described
in the following
section).

switch to VCR.

Press and release the RECORD button, and then
press
and
release
the
VCR

button.

Within ten seconds
after releasing the POWER button,
ENTER THE TWO DIGIT CODE NUMBER for the de-
sired VCR (see list). The remote is now ready to send
commands
to the VCR.
Initial VCR Code Check
The remote may already be set to operate your
VCR.
Try this initial check to see if going on to
the following "Identify"
section
is necessary.
1. Slide CBL-VCR-TV
switch to VCR.
2. Point remote
toward
VCR and press
the
POWER button.
3. Does the remote turn the VCR ON?
•
If YES, the remote
is ready
to operate
the
VCR and no further
steps are needed.
•
If NO, continue to the "Identify"
section.

Some
brands
of VCRs will
have more
than one remote
code listed.
This is due to changes
in the remote
codes
from
early
to
later
model
years,
or
due
to
format
differences
(VHS-BETA).
In such
cases,
you may have
to try more
than one number
to locate
your VCR's
remote
code.
