2 Focus.
Press the shutter button halfway to focus. If the flash will fire, [] will be displayed when
the shutter button is pressed halfway. At slow shutter speeds, !.,',"will appear in the
display to warn that pictures may be blurred; use of a tripod is recommended.

When using the flash to take pictures in "tall" (portrait) orientation, we recommend that you hold the cam-
era with the flash above the lens.
3 Shoot.
Press the shutter button the rest of the way down to shoot. _

(pg. 28),red-eye removal (<_>)isavailable in REDEYEREDUCTION (_), FORCED FLASH(<_,_),and RED "_
EYE& SLOW(_) modes. Red-eye removal minimizes "red-eye" caused when light from the flash is _"
reflected from the subject's retinas as shown in the illustration at right.
