INSPECT
MUFFLER
AND SPARK
• Replace any broken or cracked muf-

CLEANING THE SPARK
ARRESTOR SCREEN

• Reunstaildiffuserand spark arrestor
screen assembly with holes facing up
and towards muffler cover.
• Reinstall muffler cover and 2 screws
(7-8 ft-,_s.).
REPLACE SPARK PLUG
The spark plug should be replaced
each year to ensure the engine starts
easier and runs better. Ignitiontiming is
fixed and nonadjustable.
• Loosen the 3 screws on the cylinder
cover.
• Remove the cylindercover.

• Clean the spark arrestor screen with a

wire brush. Replace screen if breaks

CHAIN REPLACEMENT

• Replace with Champion CJ7Y spark
plug and tighten with a 3/4 inch socket
wrench (10-12 ft.lbs). Spark pluggap
should be .025 in.
• Reinstallthe spark plug boot.
• Reinstall the cylinder cover and 3
screws (15-20 in-lbs).

Wear protective gloves
when handling chain. The chain is
sharp and can cut you even when it is
not moving.
It is normalfor a new chainto sbetchdur-
ing the first 15 ndnutasof operation You
should recheckyour chaintendon fre-
quentlyand adjustthe chaintensionas
required.See Chain Tensionsection.
• Move On/Stop switchto the Stop
position.
• Replace the old chain when itbe-
comes worn or damaged.

• See your Sears Service Center to re-
place and sharpen individualcutters
on your chain.
• Remove bar clamp nuts.
• Remove bar clamp.
