    i Appendix • Before using the camera, please ensure that you read the safety precautions described below and in the "Safety Precautions" section. Always ensure that the camera is operated correctly. • The safety precautions noted on the following pages are intended to instruct you in the safe and correct operation of the camera and its accessories to prevent injuries or damage to yourself, other persons and equipment.

Immediately turn the camera power off and remove the camera batteries or unplug the battery charger or compact power adapter from the power outlet. Do not bend them, apply force to them, or subject them to shocks or vibration.

Reformatting the memory card may solve the problem. • When a non-Canon brand memory card is malfunctioning, reformatting it may solve the problem. • Memory cards formatted in other cameras, computers, peripheral devices may not operate correctly in this camera.
  • Page 32 • The CB-5AH/CB-5AHE battery charger can only be used to charge Canon AA-size NiMH batteries NB-3AH and NB- 2AH. Please do not attempt to charge other type of battery. • Do not mix batteries with different purchase dates or different charge states.

If you are purchasing new batteries, look for Canon AA-size NiMH batteries. • Leaving batteries in the camera or charger may result in damage from battery leakage. When not in use, remove the batteries from the camera or charger and store them in a cool, dry location.
