The focal length of the lens can be increased by an equivalent of 1.4x and
2.3x. This enables a faster shutter speed and less chance of camera shake
than just using zoom (including digital zoom) at the same zoom factor.
The images may appear rough, however, depending on the combination of
recording pixel (p. 70) and digital tele-converter settings used.
select [Digital Zoom].
Press the (_ button.
Select the O tab, then press the ,_,v
buttons to select [Digital Zoom].
.... Accept the setting.
Press the 4 [_ buttons to select [1.4x] or
[2.3x].
Pressing the Q button will return you to
the shooting screen.
The view will be enlarged, and _ and the
zoom factor will display on the screen.
After taking the shot, select [Standard] in
[Digital Zoom].
Combinations that Cause Image Deterioration
..... U sing [1.4x] at a recording pixel setting of
L or M1
will cause image
deterioration (the zoom factor will display in blue).
..... U sing [2.3x] at a recording pixel setting of L ,
M1or M2
will cause image
deterioration (the zoom factor will display in blue).
