    Loading Roll Paper You can load 4-inch, 8.3-inch, or 13-inch wide roll paper for printing multiple photos or panoramics, with or without borders. Tip: It’s a good idea to check your ink levels before loading and printing on roll paper. (See page 81.) If you need to replace a cartridge with roll paper loaded, you should remove the paper or marks may appear in your printout.
  • Page 23 4. Place the roll paper on the holders as shown, then remove the tape and protective paper from the end of the roll. 5. Make sure the end of the paper is cut straight across, with 90° corners. If the end is cut diagonally, you may have problems feeding the paper.

    Use the right paper. For the best-looking photos, most vivid colors, and greatest detail, always use genuine Epson papers and Epson UltraChrome Hi-Gloss inks. Choose the right printer settings for the paper. Your printer automatically adjusts itself for the type of paper you’ve selected, so make sure your printer settings are correct for the paper you loaded.

    Printer Lights The tables below summarize the functions of the printer lights. To diagnose problems indicated by the printer lights, see below. Light Meaning paper out On: printer is out of paper, multiple sheets fed, the wrong size sheet fed, or the CD/DVD tray is not in position. Flashing: paper isn’t loaded for the currently selected paper path, paper is jammed, or the output tray is in the wrong position.

    Problems and Solutions Setup and Software Installation Problems The printer makes noise after ink cartridge installation. When you install ink cartridges, the printer must charge its print head for about two and a half minutes. Wait until it’s finished (the green P power light stops flashing) before you turn off the printer, or it may use excess ink the next time you turn it on.

    Printer Problems Only the green P power light is on, but nothing prints. Make sure the interface cable is securely connected at both ends and meets the system requirements on page 105. Run a printer check as described on page 93. If the test page prints, make sure your software is installed correctly.

Caution: Don’t open Epson Status Monitor, pause printing, or respond to any ink messages when your printer is printing.
